Yee to the Haw, Nike SB is back. The new “Rodeo” Dunk Low Pro takes on a deeper story rooted in the American West during the 1800s. The “Tourmaline” colorway builds on historical reference and regional influence, combining design and material choices that speak to legacy, craft, and identity.

This shoe is inspired by the history of Black cowboys in the American West and the early history of rodeo, where Black ranch owners and workers helped shape the sport into what it became. Often overlooked in mainstream history, Black cowboys played a major role in shaping western culture after the Civil War. They brought new techniques and style to a culture formed through a mix of mestizo, Indigenous, and Anglo traditions. The design reflects this influence through rope-style laces, lasso stitching on the heel, and star embroidery. The insoles show a cowboy riding through the desert, a direct reference to western life.

The upper combines cracked green leather with distressed black overlays and brown underlays. Each panel adds texture and contrast. The Swooshes are mismatched, with one metallic silver and the other done in red stitching. A cracked leather tongue, teal translucent sole, and layered materials give the shoe a worn and rugged feel. The tourmaline, orange, and brown color mix may also reference African tourmaline stones known for their depth and variation.
