Closer Look: GEL-LYTE III

The ASICS GEL-LYTE 3 is a shoe that was first released in 1990. It is known for its split tongue design, which was created to improve the fit of the shoe and to allow for more flexibility and movement in the foot. The split tongue is a piece of fabric that runs down the middle of the tongue of the shoe and is divided into two separate sections. This design allows the tongue to move more freely and to conform to the shape of the wearer's foot, which can help to improve comfort and stability.

The GEL-LYTE III was designed by a team of ASICS engineers and designers, who aimed to create a shoe that would provide optimal support and cushioning for runners. The shoe features a number of innovative technologies, including ASICS' Gel cushioning system, which helps to absorb shock and reduce impact on the joints. The GEL-LYTE III also has a split tongue design, which helps to improve fit and comfort, and a Trusstic System that helps to stabilize the midfoot  and prevent overpronation.
