ASICS has once again set the bar high with their latest release of the Re: Material GEL-LYTE 5. This highly anticipated sneaker is the perfect combination of style and sustainability, continuing to push the needle forward for the footwear industry.
The GEL-LYTE 5 silhouette has a long history that dates back to 1993. It was designed to be a lightweight and modern runner that incorporated cushioning technology with a slimmer, one piece tongue design. The RE: Material model becomes an iconic part of the ASICS lineup featuring range of colorways, materials, and construction techniques used throughout the years.
This new release takes sustainability manufacturing to the next level. Materials from the factory floor have been collected and up-cycled to create a unique and stylish sneaker. The uppers are constructed with a combination of recycled leather, mesh, and suede, while the midsole and outsole are made with a blend of EVA foam and rubber.
The combination of recycled materials and modern construction techniques create a sneaker that is not only stylish and comfortable, but also eco-friendly. Asics set a new standard for viable fashion with this release, proving style, performance, and sustainability don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
The ASICS Re: Material GEL-LYTE 5 will be available on Friday, January 13th at Drift House. Releasing at 11AM in-store and 9PM online at drifthouse.com available here.
