Andrew Reynolds’ New Balance Numeric 933

Andrew Reynolds’ New Balance Numeric 933

Andrew Reynolds doesn’t need an introduction, but here’s a quick one anyway. From Birdhouse to the founder of Baker, from The End to Stay Gold, the Boss has been shaping skateboarding for a long time and he's still at it. After decades with Emerica, Reynolds joined New Balance Numeric in 2022. Now, more than 30 years into his career, he’s releasing his first signature shoe with NB: the 933. Designed with input from the Boss himself.

The 933 is a new silhouette designed from the ground up, with Reynolds heavily involved in every step. He was hands-on from sketch to sample, making sure the shoe felt right. He’s said it was the most involved he’s ever been in developing a signature shoe. “When you're in your 20s, you can skate in whatever gets made for you,” he explained. “I wanted to take advantage of all the New Balance technology that was available. I definitely saw this as a huge opportunity.” Function and durability took priority when designing the shoe, but the shape and feel couldn’t be overlooked.

Reynold's 933 is built on a cupsole with full-length FuelCell foam for impact support and rebound. There’s a redesigned Ortholite insole on top for step-in comfort, and an exposed midfoot shank visible under the translucent sole to help with torsional stability. The tread is a new herringbone pattern for consistent grip and even wear. Up top, layered mesh, suede, and synthetic panels keep the shoe breathable and durable. Padding is minimal but intentional—Reynolds wanted flexibility and protection without bulk.

The shape is low-cut and slimmed down, more streamlined than most modern cupsoles. The tongue is secured with elastic straps for locked-in fit, and the toebox has been reinforced to stand up to repeated flick. Materials vary slightly across colorways, with some versions using smoother synthetics while others lean into textured mesh and premium suede.

The first colorway releasing is Black/Olive, which Reynolds has been skating for a while and called his favorite in interviews. It drops this Friday at Drift House. Other confirmed colors include a tonal Camel/Dark Brown, Grey Day edition, and a grey-based nod to the classic 993 runner. Each version has the “933” embroidered at the heel and subtle NB branding throughout.

The Numeric 933 in Black/Olive drops this Friday at Drift House—available in-store and online. In-store at 11AM, online at 1PM EDT. Each colorway will be one pair per customer.
